A new study testing women's ability to react and foresee "challenges what women and perhaps society more generally, assume about their abilities" when they are on their periods - and it is surprisingly positive.

It beats the previous high set in 2018, and relegates the famously hot summer of 1976 to sixth place. The persistent heat drove water shortfalls, hosepipe bans and "false autumn".
